Getting started

Verifying your identity

Every investor completes an identity check before any money moves. It is a legal requirement for a private fund, not a preference, and it is the same check whether you are investing the minimum or many times it.

The obligation comes with the exemption the funds are offered under. A fund that raises capital without registering with the SEC has to know exactly who its investors are, so identity verification and anti money laundering screening are conditions of the structure rather than something ADR added.

What you will need

  • A government issued photo identity document, such as a passport or a driving licence.
  • Your legal name, date of birth and residential address, matching that document.
  • A device with a camera, if you are asked to capture the document and a selfie.

How it runs

  1. You enter your details in the platform

Name, date of birth and address, as they appear on your document.

  2. You are handed to a specialist verification provider

ADR does not perform the check itself. A third party built for identity verification does the document capture and the database matching, then returns a result. You are brought back to the platform automatically when it finishes.

  3. Screening runs against sanctions and watch lists

This is the anti money laundering half. It checks your identity against sanctions lists and politically exposed person data.

  4. The result is applied to your account

Most checks clear in minutes. A check that needs manual review takes longer, and we will contact you if anything further is required.

What happens to your documents

Your identity documents are handled by the verification provider, and the platform stores the result of the check together with the personal details you entered. None of it is written to the public ledger. As covered in viewing your holding on chain, the ledger carries holdings and movements, never identity.

Identity is not the same as accreditation

Verifying who you are and evidencing that you qualify to invest are two separate steps, and both are required before you can subscribe to a fund. Accreditation is covered in confirming accreditation.
